Two numbers that matter
The physical installation — removing the old glass and setting the new one — typically takes 60 to 90 minutes. But the more important number is the adhesive's safe-drive-away time, which is how long the urethane bonding the glass needs to cure before the windshield can safely bear structural load in a collision.
Why cure time can't be rushed
Safe-drive-away time depends on the specific adhesive, temperature, and humidity — it's set by the adhesive manufacturer, not by convenience. Driving away too early, even if the glass looks and feels secure, means the bond hasn't reached full strength.
Add calibration time if it applies
If your vehicle needs ADAS calibration, add time for either static calibration (in-shop) or dynamic calibration (a road test) after the adhesive has cured.
